” Cindy “
20 minute AMRAP
- 5 pull ups
- 10 push ups
- 15 squats

ATTENTION: Many of you came out to watch this weekends Firebreather Challenge and several of you even competed. I think it’s safe to say that all of us were inspired! Soooo, we are going to put a challenge out to all of you. We are going to run an 8 week in-house competition starting on August 1st. There is a sign – up sheet at the box and anyone who is interested in participating can write down your name, phone number and e-mail address ( coach’s will be reminding you at every class ).
Here’s how it’s going to go down… We will put all participants names in a hat and draw teams. Each team will have a designated coach. We will pick a few benchmark wods to do at the start of the competition and also will do body fat compositions. After 8 weeks, we will put you through the same benchmark wods and do body fat compositions again and the team with the biggest improvement wins. Each competitor will be required to keep a food journal and a work out journal ( you can use 1 journal for both ). If the journals aren’t completely filled out and up to date, that team gets disqualified! Accountability at its finest!!
Who’s going to step up and take the Challenge???!!!

Sounds like fun!! Def would be up for that if I was out of the Acadmey. The FF Challenge was a great idea also!!
I’d like to do this challenge. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town on vacation the first week of this competition. Is there any way I can participate?
Patti
You can still enter in the challenge on a team. Just make sure you email me to set up a time to do your body-fat before you leave for vacation. All the Benchmark WOD’s will take place the first two weeks of August. So you will still be able to make them up.
I’m in for the challenge. I was definatly inspired by the talent and discipline at the challenge Saturday! What about cocktails, will they be allowed during the 8 weeks? (please say “yes”)
Melanie
It just depends on which Coach you get. They might want to win the challenge and ask all team members to not have any extra “cocktails” “Cheat meals” for the 8 or so weeks.
Remember each Coach will be given a team…by random drawing. I’m pretty sure each of our coaches want to win this challenge.
Win?…….I want DOMINATION!!!!
Im in! I will be on vacation too from Aug 7-14th though so i will need to get with you for the composition!
I definitely want to get in on this but i will be going back to school and back to CF Thunder in a month….what to do?
Zach
We are running the same program @ thunder. The benchmark wods we use will be the same @ both boxes. You stats will just go toward ur ff team
OK! good deal
I’m in, why not? I will be out of town for the first week of the challenge. I leave this Friday.
“Cindy” Cameron-20 rounds, Wally-18 rounds
i’m in! im all for a friendly competition… even if it means giving up wine and pizza, and hamburger buns!! It will only make me stronger!

I’m in for the challenge. I am in big time need of some serious diet motivation.
Cindy- 12 rounds plus 2 pull ups. Push ups, as always, slowed me down. I had to take multiple breaks because of muscle fatigue.
The first time I ever did Cindy, which was right after I started Crossfit in November 2008, I got 16+ rounds. But I wasn’t getting my chest to the floor and I know I wasn’t below parallel on my squats. Since then, doing both, I’ve not gotten close to 16 rounds.
Guys/Gals
As we finalize all the details of the challenge we will post them. The goal is to pay more attention to detail (and my team to win
) details such as tracking diet, wods, sleep, ect With as much effort as you guys put into the workouts you need to put that same intensity into the documentation and planning of your training.
One change that we have made already is it will be 12-13 week challenge. With the challenge ending with final body-fat measurments on Oct 29th/30th and the 2nd annual FF costume party to follow
!!
J, I’ll be in Vegas on October 29/30th. I’ll have to do my body fat measurements before I go. Then I’ll celebrate BIG TIME in Vegas!
Lane
No problem…as long as we have the second measurement by those dates it will be good. Vegas Bound!! Love it
This sounds awesome. Can the teams have names? If so, I wanna name my team The Globo Gym Purple Cobras(standing alone) May the best plant eater win! Im gonna shoot a deer and feed it to my team…. raw.
Joe I’m all for the name; however, that’s paleo to the next level. I’m not sure everyone is ready for that. I mean….I am no doubt. I say we save it for the day of competition. That way people are extremely intimidated. Hahaha
Can you post the final results with times, etc. from the Saturday challenge? Just curious for my journal. Also want to know how I would have stacked up had I finished that last damn pull up.
Thanks for calling yesterday. We still miss ya!
Intimidation always works unless your Casey, then you fear nothing! Me and you, we will split the Deer. Globo Gym Purple Cobras!!!
Are we going to draw names out of a hat for certain costumes as well? I don’t know if I could stand to be swayze.
I’d like to say thanks to all the Firebreathers who came out and competed, helped out, or just cheered everyone on! You guys are rock stars!
A BIG thank you goes out to Wally for putting this whole thing together. It ran extremely smooth and everyone had a great time (next time i’ll bring the AC from Thunder up with me).
I want to apologize to Josh M. Your shitty form kept making me call missed reps for you, work on that , hahahaha.
Great job to all those who competed! We are hosting a Competition in Louisville KY in Septemeber, and we will also be holding a “Thunder In The Valley” Challenge at CrossFit Thunder in November! Hope to see you all there!
Oh and Cameron, I’ve got that ointment you needed for the chaffing problem you were having…I’ll FedEx it over right away
Just wanted to shout out a big THANK YOU to the whole crew @ FF for hosting the challenge this weekend. Everyone at your facility (which is awesome by the way) was so incredibly kind and welcoming. I know that everyone from up here at MCF couldn’t speak enough of the wonderful personalities and atmosphere that we got to experience on Saturday! Definitely a testament to the operations side as well as all the folks that are members at Firebreather. Definitely worth the trip and the heat. IT WAS AWESOME. Thank you again. YOU ALL ROCK!!!!
